20 Year 6 SATs Questions Every Child Should Know

Published · 20 min

Watch on YouTube

Twenty original, SATs-style practice questions for Year 6 - the kind of question a pupil might meet in England's end-of-primary national tests, often called SATs. Ten questions cover mathematics: place value, column subtraction, multiplication and division by a written method, fractions, percentages, ratio, simple algebra, area and the mean average. Four cover reading, using one short original passage, testing retrieval, vocabulary in context, inference and summary. Four cover grammar and punctuation: subordinate clauses, simple past tense, the plural possessive apostrophe and direct-speech punctuation. Two are dictated spelling questions, covering a homophone pair and a common suffix.

Every question follows the same routine: the question appears in full, the video pauses so you can attempt it on paper, then the method is explained step by step before the answer is revealed. The questions are original and written in the style of England's Key Stage 2 tests - not reproduced past-paper questions, and not a prediction of what will appear in a real test. The content domains they practise are grounded in the Standards and Testing Agency's published 2026 test materials and its mathematics and reading test frameworks.

The video closes with every answer recapped in one place, and a suggestion: go back to the one question you were least sure of, rather than rushing on to something new.

Every figure is on screen with its source and date, and the worked answer key is this video's own editorial content, checked by independent recalculation, not a claimed official mark scheme.
